(EN) Philippines-based port operator International Container Terminal Services (ICTSI) has signed a concession contract with the Port Autonome de Kribi (PAK) to develop, operate and maintain Cameroon’s Kribi Multipurpose Terminal (KMT).
With the contract, ICTSI is the concessionaire of the terminal for the next 25 years.
ICTSI EMEA senior vice-president and regional head Hans-Ole Madsen said: “ICTSI is very proud to partner with Cameroon and the Port of Kribi in the operation and development of the Kribi Multipurpose Terminal.”
KMT is a new deepwater port that is located 150km south of Douala, Cameroon. The phase one of the terminal has a 265m + 63m of the berth and a 10ha yard, while the second phase will have an extra 350m of berth and 23ha of the yard.
The 262km2 Kribi Industrial Area surrounds the Kribi port. The industrial area is expected to accommodate the developments.
Madsen added: “Our purpose as a company is to make the Port of Kribi a driver for positive and sustainable growth, thus ICTSI will work diligently to partner the Cameroonian business community by providing efficient and safe port services.
“Our services will act as a catalyst for Cameroon’s foreign trade and we will actively promote the Kribi Logistic Corridor, encompassing Cameroon, Chad, Central African Republic, Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea and Gabon, an area home to more than 50 million people.
